jfk assembly

Students at the John F. Kennedy Primary School received an education on the scientific study of life in the past, particularly through the origins of fossils.

On Wednesday, November 5, the 3rd and 4th Grade students at JFlK attended an assembly to listen to field paleontologists Mike and Roberta Straka.

The 3rd Graders learned about the formation of rocks, minerals, and fossils, and the 4th Grade students listened to a presentation about habitats in the past and present.

According to Km Cook, a JFK 3rd Grade Teacher, “after these assemblies, students returned to experience a dig for themselves! As students uncovered fossils and minerals, Roberta Straka identified what was found.”

“To end this session, students had a question-and-answer session with Mike Straka about his experiences,” Ms. Cook said.
