A laboratory has been created at the Adamsville Primary School.
This school year, Daniel Richter, Adamsville’s energetic Technology Teacher and Science Coordinator, has brought a brand-new Tech Lab and adjacent STEM Lab to life.
With the support of Adamsville Principal Dr. James Singagliese, Mr. Richter transformed the large, connected space from one classroom into his room, which resulted in a bright, flexible environment where students can create, investigate, collaborate, and explore.
According to Mr. Richter, the combined labs can accommodate up to 48 students and feature robots, two fish tanks, LEGO kits, microscopes, geodes and unique rocks, living plants, vintage technology displays, and space for crafts. The STEM Lab will also support SGI instruction and PTO after-school enrichment opportunities.
“When I learned I would be able to utilize this large space, I had a vision for what it could become," Mr. Richter shared. “It has been so much fun watching that vision come to life, and even more exciting seeing how enthusiastic our students are to use it.”
The work to connect the two rooms, according to Principal Dr. Singagliese, was performed over the summer and completed in time for the start of this school year.
Mr. Richter reported that students from Pre-K through 3rd grade are already using the new spaces this school year, providing opportunities to experience hands-on STEM learning beyond the traditional classroom.
He concluded.
“As students build, experiment, code, observe, and create, the labs are becoming a place where curiosity is encouraged and students have the space to explore their ideas and expand their thinking.”
