Twelve high school students earn semifinalist status in National Merit Scholarship Program

Twelve Bridgewater-Raritan High School students are members of a very elite group.

These 12 scholars from Bridgewater-Raritan are among the top one percent of the highest scores achieved on the PSAT by all high school seniors throughout the United States.

These 12 Bridgewater-Raritan students are among the 16,000 students who have earned status as semifinalists in the 69th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

According to the press release that was distributed by the National Merit Scholarship Program, 90 percent of these semifinalists are expected to attain the Finalist level while half of the students in this Finalists level will win a National Merit Scholarship.

The National Merit Scholarship Program press release reported that more than 1.5 million students applied for this highly competitive scholarship. The 16,000 students who achieved semifinalist status represent one percent of all high school seniors in the country.

National Merit Scholarship winners of 2024 will be announced in four nationwide news releases that will begin in April and run through July.
