Footballs fill the air as high school practice began this week

The Rick Mantz era has begun at Bridgewater-Raritan Regional High School.

The new head football coach for the high school program launched his first practice sessions at Basilone Field in Bridgewater this week. This week signaled the official start of pre-season football practice all throughout New Jersey.

Mantz did hold summer workouts during June and July as he prepared for his first season at Bridgewater-Raritan after successful  careers at such programs as Hillsborough High School and South Brunswick High School as well as on the staff at Rutgers University.

The Panthers will open their season on Friday, August 26, when they travel to Wayne and collide with Passaic County Tech. After a road game at Union High School on Thursday, September 1, Bridgewater-Raritan will open its home season against rival Hillsborough High School on Friday, September 9.
